Patent Finance Consulting is the first financial services company specializing in Intellectual Property (IP) in Japan. PFC provides valuation of IP assets and arranges debt or equity finance for companies who wish to raise capital, based on the value of their IP assets, or on the value of future cash inflows from technology development projects.
Dissimilar to venture capital, our approach uses IP assets, or predictable future income streams from particular projects, as the basis for raising finance. Therefore, this allows companies to raise capital, without issuing additional stock, precluding the need for existing shareholders to dilute their holdings or level of control of a business.
This approach also has distinct advantages for companies that wish to engage in joint venture projects and have no desire to enter into an IPO. Specifically, it allows companies to raise finance based on the assets of a project, without the need to dilute their ownership in the project, or leverage the assets of their existing business outside of the joint venture.
